about

Kentucky-born textile artist April English infuses everyday life with uniqueness, color, and character through her vibrant and abstract creations. Primarily working with a tufting gun, April crafts eye-catching home textiles designed to adorn walls, floors, and tabletops. Driven by a passion for texture and design, she has independently mastered the art of rug tufting and now explores the dynamic possibilities of screen printing on both prints and textiles.

April's artistic journey took an exciting turn in 2020 when, during an unexpected pause, she taught herself the intricate craft of rug making. This self-led exploration blossomed into a thriving practice, resulting in thousands of distinctive pieces that have found homes with collectors around the globe.

As a 2020 honors graduate of Western Kentucky University, April holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. This unique academic background informs her artistic process, blending an appreciation for historical aesthetics with a meticulous understanding of materials and techniques.

Each rug is handmade in her home studio in Louisville, Kentucky. In her free time, April likes adding movies to her Letterboxd watchlist, drinking oat milk lattes, and thrifting old lamps.
